Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at the 37th "Imam Khomeini Week" conference, organized by the Islamic Movement's student association at his residence in Abuja, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky elaborated on the personality and intellectual dimensions of the founder of the Islamic Revolution.
According to a report from the office of the Nigerian Islamic Movement's leader, Sheikh Zakzaky described Imam Khomeini as a divine gift to the modern age—one who transformed the thinking of the Islamic Ummah and brought about deep and fundamental changes on the international stage.
Pointing to the transformation in the concept of awaiting the savior within Imam Khomeini's school, he stated: "The founder of the Islamic Revolution changed society's traditional and passive approach to this issue. In Imam's school, awaiting is not merely sitting, remaining silent, and waiting. It is a dynamic, powerful movement coupled with action—a duty placed upon the entire Ummah, both before and after the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his advent)."
The leader of Nigeria's Islamic Movement asserted: "Imam Khomeini transformed the world's view of religion. Religion came to be recognized as a path to freedom, dignity, and independence—not a tool for the suppression and pacification of the people, as had been propagated by hegemonic powers before the victory of the Islamic Revolution."
He further stressed that true material power lies with the masses, adding: "The founder of the Islamic Revolution taught the world that ultimate victory over the arrogant powers is achieved only through struggle against oppression, steadfastness amid seditions, and sincere reliance on God Almighty. This is why the enemies of Islam and international hegemons today fear the influence of Imam's thought among the Ummah and continue their efforts to prevent the spread of this divine thinking."
Noting that Imam Khomeini is alive because his thought, path, and school remain alive and vibrant, Sheikh Zakzaky emphasized: "Under current conditions, there is no need to create new paths. The only duty of the Islamic Ummah is to follow his guiding path with precision and sincerity."
The leader of Nigeria's Islamic Movement concluded by stating: "This is the very thought upon which the martyred Seyyed Khamenei stood firmly and for which he sacrificed. Today's world, in order to overcome its crises, needs a return to the thought of Imam Khomeini, for this thinking is the only path to salvation and prosperity for all nations."
